How to Choose the Right Dumpster Size for Your Business

Choosing a dumpster size sounds simple until you're staring at a spec sheet. Too small and you're overflowing by Thursday; too big and you're paying for empty space. Here's how we think about it.

Start with your volume, not your square footage

A small footprint with high turnover can generate more waste than a large quiet office. Estimate by bags per week, then match to a container.

A rough sizing guide

  • 2–3 Yard: small offices, cafés, and tight spaces (roughly 12–18 bags).
  • 4 Yard: medium restaurants, clinics, and retail; offices up to ~50 employees (~28 bags).
  • 6 Yard: larger retail, clinics, and offices up to ~100 employees (~42 bags).
  • 8 Yard: high-volume restaurants and offices up to ~250 employees (~56 bags).

When in doubt, ask

We'd rather start you in the right size than upsell you. Tell us about your operation and we'll recommend a container and pickup frequency that fits — and adjust as your needs change.
